One of the feature events in our calendar is the St Andrews Tartan Ball to be held on Saturday 29 November 2014 in the French Room at the Midland Hotel, Bradford. Reception drinks will be from 7.0 pm for a 7.30 pm prompt start.  Dress code will be formal or highland and we would ask you to incorporate an item of tartan into your attire.

I am sure you are all aware of rising costs and so in order to hold the ticket price at £30 (no increase from last year), the menu this year will be a set meal. Should you have any dietary requirements please contact me or the Midland Hotel direct. A vegetarian option is available and will be the Chef’s choice of the day.

Please be aware that the French Room is located on the first floor of the hotel and can be accessed via the stairs or the lift which is adjacent to reception. The pre-dinner reception drinks will be held in the bar of the French Room.

The meal will be followed by a programme of dancing, which will be accompanied by the wonderful music of Ian Slater.  There will also be the chance to win a bottle of whisky in the coin rolling competition – all proceeds to charity. The price for this fabulous evening is only £30 per head.

As is customary, we will be holding a raffle and donations of prizes will be gratefully received. Please let Sharon Booth-Howie know if you are able to donate a raffle prize.  The proceeds will go to the President’s two chosen charities which, this year, are;

  • The Teenage Cancer Trust. Their vision is a future where young people’s lives don’t stop because they have cancer. They make sure young people treated as young people first, cancer patients second and everything they do aims to improve their quality of life and chances of survival ,   and
  • Bradford Cinderella Club: A Children’s charity formed in 1890 that provides treats and holidays for underprivileged children of school age in Bradford District, as well as anything else that would be beneficial in terms of their welfare.

For more details please see the flyer circulated by the Secretary. To book tickets please indicate your name / your guest’s names on the reply slip detailing any special dietary requirements. Please return it Sharon Booth-Howie as soon as possible, but no later than Thursday 20 November. Please let me now if you do not intend to attend as well as if you do want tickets.
