Resumption of Activities
The Society’s Council is delighted to announce the resumption of social activities from July 2021 subject to confirmation of the easing of COVID restrictions in line with the Government’s projected road map. The revised date for lifting of restrictions is currently 19th July but we shall issue a further update should there be any changes to this schedule.
The Council have been meeting regularly by conference calls and are moving ahead with arrangements for a range of events commencing with the Society’s Golf Tournament and Dinner on 14th July 2021 and including the Tartan Ball on 27th November. Further details of the proposed upcoming events can be viewed below. We hope that members will respond to these events and enable everyone to renew friendships that have been put on hold for such a prolonged time.
Meanwhile, The President and Council wish all Members and their families good health and best wishes for the summer.
NB. All dates are subject to possible amendment due to Government COVID restrictions. Any such restrictions will be notified to members.
14 July 2021 Annual Golf Tournament and Dinner Shipley Golf Club. See e-mail flyer for more details. Non-playing members are welcome to attend the dinner and participate in the charity putting event. Members’ guests are very welcome to play and attend the dinner.
15 August 2021 Walk and meal. Organised by Margaret Cheyne. The proposed walk will be a pleasant ramble of around 4 miles to the the Goit Stock Waterfall and over the Hewenden Viaduct followed by refreshments and a meal at the Malt, Harden.
September 2021 Afternoon tea/garden visit or meal out (Event & date TBC)
27 November 2021 Annual Tartan Ball. One of the Society’s major events – dinner and Scottish Country Dancing at the Dubrovnik Hotel to the music of Ian Slater. Put the date in your diary now.
December 2021 Christmas Soiree hosted by President Bruce Somerville. Join President Bruce and fellow members for a convivial pre-Christmas evening of nibbles and drinks. More details to follow in the autumn.
29 January 2022 Burns Supper Our most popular event will again be held at the Dubrovnik Hotel with the usual mix of Haggis, Burns poems and songs and Scottish Country Dancing. More details to follow in the autumn.
